Trekking and adventure expedition company 360 Expedition Grades

Please note that the gradings below are only rough guides and for more accurate descriptions please feel free to talk to one of the 360 staff. Due to the physically demanding nature of some of these expeditions, it is wise to have a period of rest following an expedition before going back to work, to allow your body and mind to rest and recuperate.

Technical

Trekking or easy scrambling. No climbing experience is necessary.

May involve harder scrambling or some easy climbing. If snow is encountered then glacier travel with ropes, ice axes and crampons will be required.

Competent climbing ability. Should be comfortable on Scottish Winter III ground or Alpine AD.

May be short sections of more technical climbing or prolonged climbing at Scottish Winter III or Alpine AD.

Long periods of hard technical climbing.

 

 

Physical

Trekking fit. Good basic fitness with ability to walk at steady pace for long periods. There may be some uphills and downhills on these expeditions so best to include some long days in the hills as part of your training programme.

Good all round fitness required. Development of your cardiovascular fitness is advisable as there may be prolonged periods where your body works hard.

High degree of fitness. Expeditions of this nature will be very tough and challenging requiring a degree of robustness from the individual.

Superlative fitness. To undertake this expedition one has to be prepared to be pushed to the limit.

Extreme fitness required. Only for the masochistic who wish to take their body to hell and back.
