Finally I have had news from Rolfe - Mera summit was reached in the early hours today - which is fantastic news - it was bitterly cold and has been a very very long day - The line was bad and he sounded like i marchen and i caugh every 3rd word - Great news and a BIG well done to all.

Amazing news just in from Marco that the whole team has now reached the summit of Island Peak. The elated trio are en route back with Marco for some well earned r&r! An absolutely enormous congratulations to the whole team on really great achievement. Check out the whole story here -

News just in that after 12 hard hours walking in glorious conditions on Nepal\'s stunning Imja Tse (knows as Island Peak) the whole team has reached the summit. A huge congratulations from all at Team 360. Although the technical work is now behind them, the day is not over yet and it will

No news from Marco yet - but the sat phone has just kicked in with Rolfe on the end of the line -

Sadly he is one member down on his Mera team due to a client having nasty chest infection that wasn't clearing - disappointing - but he is very happy with all that he has achieved and and we hope he has a speedy recovery.

The rest of the team are now are at high camp - sitting it out with two other teams waiting for the summit push that will start in the early hours (Nepali time). Normal summit time is 6am french time -so hopefully I will be back here then tapping out good news - fingers crossed!!!

Island Peak Update - Marco has just called in. The team are happy and rested at base camp and about to settle down for supper. Their wake up call will come at midnight (their time) and then the summit attempt will begin... Weather is looking great - clear skies and a balmy -23 with windchill! We can't wait to hear all about it.

News from Mera :

Due to the summit winds being over 70 kmh creating a wind chill factor in the minus 30s Rolfe made the call to stay an additional night at Khare - this has given the team an extra day of crampon and ice axe work - but more importantly given them a better weather window for summit day which is now scheduled for this Sunday.

360 always has contingency days built into their itineraries for exactly this reason – which in turns gives the teams the very best possible chance of success –

Latest Mera update:

The sun has been shining and the group are all in high spirits and happy with the knowledge that they have now completed the technical practice which included crampon and ice axe technique as well as self-arresting and getting used to jumaring on a fixed rope. They are now back at Khare for the night. Tomorrow they will climb back up the ridge before roping up to make the glacier crossing followed by a short descent to the Mera La. (5,410m). This exposed pass will serve as tomorrow’s camp.

The weather at the summit is still pretty full on but by Saturday it will be a mere 50kmh winds and only –29 so looking better! Summit attempt is due on Saturday -

We are weather watching and will keep you posted.

Island Peak Update:
Having successfully completed Everest Base Camp the team now plan to attempt the summit of Island Peak in the early hours of Saturday morning. Weather forecast is clear but cold (-25 with wind chill) with strong winds. We'll be thinking of them.
Right now, it's relaxation time and this is Marco's view at the moment.

Everyone is back hanging out in Gorak Shep after reaching Everest Base Camp earlier today - massive CONGRATULATIONS on the achievement so far! Awesome weather has accompanied them and while the altitude has been hard to cope with they have all battled through and are doing great .
Next stop, Kala Patar and finally Island Peak. Forecast for Island Peak is snow which will all add to the challenge so keep them in your thoughts... Here's a little pic of what they can expect to keep the motivation up!
