Kilimanjaro Trek Extensions
Zanzibar is a magical island...known as the spice island filled with stories of the salve trade. We have given you a very basic extension. This will give you the choice to explore the island at your own will and eat from the wonderful local fish markets or restaurants once there. This extension does not include a 360 leader.
There are many excursions that you will be able to organise once there.. you will be able to do as much or as little as you wish..
It will be possible to head to Kizimkazi where you can take a water safari and go for a spectacular swim with the dolphins or take a taxi to Paje or Bwejuu to enrich yourself with some of the history and understand why Zanzibar is the Spice Island.
There will also be an option to take a spice tour or take a trip back to nature, where you can head to Jozani forest. This is the only remaining natural forest in Zanzibar. It is possible here to catch a rare sight of the special Red Colobus Monkey. If you wish to learn more on the culture you will be able to make a visit to the House of Wonders Museum.

After breakfast at the hotel we will drive to our campsite for some lunch. The campsite is set in the wilds with lions, leopards, giraffes, primates and crocodiles nearby. No need to worry though as the Maasai will guard us and keep us safe.
After lunch we will have a perfect opportunity to swim in the natural pool right next to the campsite. This pool is heated by thermal springs making it an ideal temperature for a swim and a soak to relax any aching muscles. The rest of the afternoon can be spent relaxing by the pool and then the evening can be spent drying by a warming fire.
Day 2: Crocodile visit and Maasai experience
A nice leisurely start to the morning will be followed by a short walk to an area where crocodiles are known to inhabit. Fortune may favour us and allow us to see these fearsome creatures up close and personal. With our appetite whetted we will return to camp for a spot of lunch.
After lunch, we will have the privilege of walking to a Maasai village to learn more about this unique race of people. We see at first hand how the Maasai live and will be educated more on their history and culture, fostering a greater understanding between us all.
The experience continues well into the evening with the Maasai community coming together to share their entertainment with us. A special feast will be prepared over an open fire to cement the new formed relationship between us and the Maasai.
Day 3: Coffee plantation and Chagga history
The morning will see us depart the camp after breakfast. Our journey will take us to a working coffee plantation. Here we will learn the process of how our coffee is made from before the bean is picked right upto when we take that first sip.
The afternoon will continue by delving into the history of the Chagga tribe whom inhabit the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. In particular, we will focus on their ability to survive adversity, especially during the time of the Great War when the Chaggas moved their families and livestock into the caves to hide and live their lives as peacefully as can be amongst the drama unfolding around them.
Early evening will bring us back to the hotel to relax and reflect amongst friends.
