This adventure combines every element of classic expeditions - we explore rivers and jungle, climb mountains, and head off in search of wildlife. Borneo is sensory overload at its best! We head first to Gulung Mulu National Park, exploring its rivers to reach the famous Lang and Deer Caves - vast networks of underground caverns carved out of the limestone over millions of years, and the Wind & Clearwater Caves - the latter thought to be the largest in SE Asia. We witness the great dusk exodus as millions of bats darken the sky as they fly out of the caves for the nocturnal hunt for insects.

We then ascend through the jungle to the Pinnacles, great flat blades of limestone thrusting vertically out of the canopy. From Mulu we head to Kinabalu, Borneo’s highest mountain, and make the two-day ascent through the jungle and over the great granite plateau to the summit, reaching its peak at dawn to watch the sun rise up from the east over the South China Sea. We descend the Via Ferrata route - one of the highest in the world. Once back at its base we head to Sandakan to take visit the Sepilok Orangutang sanctuary, and have time for several river safaris before finally preparing to return to the UK.
