This amazing adventure trekking through the forests of the Ilha Grande of Brazil, then paddling the crystal clear waters of Paraty is an experience that will not be forgotten in a hurry. The scenery is breathtaking, the oceans mesmerising and you cannot fail to be fascinated by the history of this remarkable part of Brazil.
Starting our journey in the fabulous city of Rio we transfer by boat to Ilha Grande where we begin our trek along the northern coast of Ilha Grande through the verdant rainforest stopping to marvel at the crystal clear waters of the sea where at night the sea is sometimes so calm we can see the reflection of the stars, and where, during the day green coral and tropical fish provide a welcome distraction from the rigours of the trek.
After three days in Ilha Grande we transfer to Paraty and begin our kayak odyssey around the Costa Verde, visiting a tropical fjord and climbing the Mamagua Sugarloaf Mountain which provides panoramic views of the whole region, we finally paddle back to Paraty, immensely satisfied with our efforts before a final tour of the amazing town of Paraty and it’s fascinating history. Finally, back in Rio, we have time to visit the world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain.
