
The 360 expeditons survival course is geared at enhancing your knowledge at
how to utilise the natural environment in a practical way for survival without the
aid of modern resources.
This course is not necessarily geared at learning survival techniques in a forest
environment but is applicable to all the wilderness settings we operate in. We
run these courses most weekends from our Pyrenean base. It is an intense 3
day course run in a real wilderness setting to maximise the experience being
taught...
You will learn survival essentials such as how to build a shelter, start a fire and
how to find water and food under the expert guidance of 360 Expeditons survival
experts.
Course specifics include:
Shelter
Construction and use of natural shelters in the forest.
Fire
Natural resources for fire. Fire starting and fire management. Fire safety
Water
Collection and disinfection - making water safe to drink. Common diseases and disorders and prevention
Food & Cooking
Plant and tree identification and practical uses. Foraging through the seasons and different environments. Identifying poisonous plants and berries. Rabbit - skinning, preparation and boiling a stew. Rainbow trout - gutting, preparation and steaming. Open fire cooking
Survival fishing techniques - making hooks from natural resources for fishing. Animal tracks and signs. Animal snares and traps - natural cordage and making snares from natural resources for trapping
Being seen
How to signal your position and movements to others and how to be seen from the air.
Basic first aid
Refresher on how to manage various casualty scenarios that may occur. And environmental hazard (sun, wind, heat ) protection and management.
How to move around.
Crossing rivers and dealing with steep ground.
Navigation
Map orientation, understanding norths, symbols and grid references. How to take and use a compass bearing. Pacing, time and distance. Navigation by the night sky and the sun.
Camp craft
Site selection and organisation. Use of a knife. How to make a camp safe from wild animals.

A minimum of 4 participants are required to commence a course. Let us know your interest soon and we will begin to advertise immediately to get the required numbers.
Participants will need to be wearing clothing suitable for the conditions.
Cost: £260. Includes all relevant group material.
Not included in the cost are airfares (subject to seasonal changes and carriers but usually very reasonable with budget airlines) airport transfers, meals or accommodation costs.
