Itinerary

DAY 1 : First things first...why are we doing this?!

To many of you, this might not matter – it’s a free trip, after all! But, for those of you wondering…

Way back when, Marni and Rolfe set up 360 to give awesome experiences. It wasn’t a money maker, but by doing so they gained a HUGE amount of pleasure in seeing achievements being smashed, the jubilant faces of people achieving summits they thought they wouldn’t or couldn’t make, and the excited emails on their return, bursting about the friends made and the challenges overcome. And that’s what we’re about – getting those feelings out to as many people as possible.

How good do you feel when you carry someone’s bags, give to a homeless person, hug a friend in need or give a genuine compliment to a stranger?? That’s the good stuff in life.. all right there.. and after the 12 months of sheer chaos and craziness, we miss that feeling. This is simply our way of giving back, and putting a bit more positivity into the world! Go for it, do something amazing today, a simple, small little something for someone, and you will know how we feel…pay it forward, and make someone smile. And that’s why we are offering a free place on one of our most epic expeditions!

And now, a little bit about the options for this amazing expedition – if you win, the only thing you have to do is choose which one you want to go on!

DAY 1-11 : Kilimanjaro - Lemosho Route

For the full itinerary please head here or, for a little teaser, read below!

Our favourite route on Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho, approaches from the west and ascends through arid lowlands before a hike up onto the Shira Plateau moorlands. Here, you’ll encounter giant groundsels, huge mutant weeds unique to Kilimanjaro which pepper the landscape. From Shira, we pass the great lava tower and, with a helping hand from our dedicated team, climb the exhilarating Barranco Wall. Then, it’s time to don head torches and make for the summit under moonlight. You’ll get plenty of time at the top to reflect on your achievement, before descending through lush tropical rainforests crowded with monkeys and butterflies.

Everyone experiences something magical climbing ‘Kili’: incredible sunsets over the vast African plains, the surreal ever-changing landscape, the rousing dancing and singing with our much-loved support team, and ultimately, sheer pride at climbing Africa’s to highest point.

DAY 1-19 : Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes

Please click here for the full itinerary, but read on for a brief teaser of the trek!

We take a slightly different route to the ‘norm’ on our EBC trek, and you get all the madness of Kathmandu top and tailing the expedition but, when on the actual trek, you are immersed into the amazingly rich Nepalese culture. It is a fantastic three-week trip to an iconic destination that takes you through all the diversity the Himalayan mountain range has to offer.  You start off in the warmer lower hills where you cross deep gorges on the high swinging bridges, passing rich lush farmland before resting a few days at Namche. It is here that you branch off to the more remote the Gokyo valley and lakes. There are a few high passes that you will cross before you arrive to the ‘village’ of Gorak Shep, the launching spot for your final day’s trek to basecamp.

On your way down you head through the classic Khumbu Valley, following the glacier and boulder fields that will lead you to the rhododendron forest before back to the pastural lands and onto the ‘city of sin’, Kathmandu!

Heading out via the Gokya region really allows you to see the big peaks… Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Changtse, and Pumori – the journey is really quite spectacular!

These are subject to minor changes depending on flight arrival and departure times, weather, group dynamics and fitness and so on, but the itinerary outlined provides an excellent indication of the trek and what you will experience.

We had really good support leading up to the expedition and on the mountain. The porters and the group were amazing – especially the singing and support on the summit day. I really felt that they wanted us to summit as opposed to just doing a job. The food was also amazing.
