Mussa Kijuu

Expedition Leader

Mussa was born in Arusha Tanzania with an immediate ambition for success. His first adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro was as a porter, this was life changing, the biggest and hardest thing he had ever done and within only a couple of years he had saved and studied to become one of Kilimanjaro’s most experienced guides today.

Kilimanjaro is Mussa’s office and he is very dedicated and professional and checks everything to detail before any group leaves to climb the mountain. His words of wisdom and experience to all is Respect the mountain, Be prepared with correct gear and come with Positive thoughts, the mind is a powerful thing and it’s not the fittest that makes the summit.

Mussa’s life in Africa is full of adventure. His most memorable to date is climbing in the jungle of Rwanda in search of the Great Silverback Gorilla’s and to his amazement, one of the teenage Black Back Gorilla’s patted one of the group on their back, he could not believe you can be so close to these beautiful creatures.

He loves working with 360, they have become his family and he is our head guide on Kilimanjaro helping everyone of the team reach their goals.

From start to finish, the 360 ethos was apparent and stayed with us throughout – Rolfe and the team were immense. Climbing Mount Kenya from the east, via Chogoria Gate was a great option due to being more challenging, more remote and virtually no other trekkers insight. My highlights were waking up each morning at awesome wild campsites, stargazing and summiting Point Lenana at dawn with an incredible 360 panoramic view. 5 words to describe: epic, majestic, inspiring, off-grid and fun!
