Lahcen Imzilen

Expedition Leader

Lahcen is a Berber from Morocco that hails from the high Atlas village of Imlil. His pride and enthusiasm in his heritage coupled with superb outdoor and linguistical skills set him apart as the most accomplished mountain and desert guide in this amazing part of the world.

His father started as a humble mule man working in the Atlas generations ago and through unusual drive developed the first organised mountain guide and mountain rescue organisations in the Atlas Mountains and founded Adrar Aventure an Adventure company in 1993.

Lahcen followed his footsteps and by giving 110% to every expedition he gives every client an expedition experience that goes beyond expectations.

Lahcen currently resides in the UK but continuously develops and leads programs for 360 not only in Morocco but other African countries.

Lahcen is a valued member of the 360 team and his dedication to our company is hugely appreciated.

Interview

What was your first adventure?

My first and most memorable adventure would have to be when I was a teenager, around 15 years old.   I climbed the highest mountain peak in my home country – Jebel Toubkal, 4167m.

What has been your most memorable adventure?

My most memorable adventure…I think that would have to be when I trekked to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

What item of travel kit you can't do without?

I never forget a pair of strong walking boots!

What three bits of advice would you give to people who are keen on adventures, trekking and climbing?

  1. Have a good level fitness for any adventure you choose, whether it be trekking or climbing.
  2. Bring appropriate clothing with you for your expedition.
  3. It is always a good idea to start your trekking training early.

What is the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is being able to help people achieve their goals.

Why did you choose to work for 360?

I have led many trips in Morocco with 360 Expeditions founder Rolfe for  quite a few years now.  So when I was offered to work with 360 Expeditions I could not say no!

Tougher than I thought, more rewarding than I imagined. Thank you 360.
